Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease affecting central nervous of a neuron (blue) losing its myelin sheath (brown) under the abnormal action of lymphocytes (red, green, yellow), which normally have the role of defending the organism against infectious agents. The conduction of nerve impulses in the axon is then altered, and causes symptoms : loss of motor coordination, vision disorders, altered sensations, etc.
