The Round Tower silhouetted against moonlit clouds. Built from granite it's about 30 metres high, with an entrance metres from the base. Originally a landmark for visitors, they also served as bell towers, store-houses and as places of refuge in times of attack. Glendalough early Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, County Wicklow, Ireland
