Elafonisi or Elafonissi, "deer island" in Greek, is an island located close to the southwestern corner of the Mediterranean island of Crete, Greece. Elafonisi is an oblong, which often "breaks" in two parts by water giving the impression of being a separate island. The island is a protected nature reserve.
