Jr., was a millwright, and moved from Bradfordcounty to Tonijikins county. New York, where he followed his trade forsome years, and then moved to Wheeling. West Virginia, where he enteredthe regular army and served five years, and for two years in the home was state major drummer for the state of Pennsylvania about 1834. Hedied at Blair, Ohio, on Christmas day, 1888, at the age of eighty-two years,and his wife died in 1885, aged seventy-eight years six months and twenty. HISTORY OF LAKE COUNTY. 177 days. He was a farmer, and afterward moved to NewYork, wliere lie iHed, in Danln-, Tompkins county. He was poormaster ofthe county for a number of years, and was also justice of the peace and heldother public offices. He was eighty-seven years old at the time of his death,and had been twice married and had seven children. The name was originallyspelled Gardiner, and the family record goes back to Richard Gardiner, whocame to Massachusetts with the Pilgrims. William T. and Sarah Bradfordhad ten children, five sons and five daughters, and the fi\e nc^w lixing are:Lydia Ann. widow of Thomas Geddis, of Diyden.
