Miscellaneous Notes. iIn the oldest burying ground at Wellsburg, in Brooke county, stands a neat monument having thereon the following inscription:Captain Oliver Of the Massachusetts Line in the Revolutionary at Lexington, Mass., in 1752. He Stood in Front of the First Cannon Fired by theBritish on the Americans in the Affray at Lexington;Witnessed the Tea Party in Boston Harbor; Was atthe Battle of Bunker Hill; Commissioned by Congressthe 16th Day of January, 1776; Commanded the Vol-unteer Party That Bore off the Leaden Statue of KingGeorge from the Battery of New York, and Made it IntoBullets for the American Army; Bore a ConsficuousPart in Command of the Artillery at the Battle ofWhite Plains, Harbor Heights.
