Theremainder of the day and the evening were oc-cupied with various celebrations and festivities,and it was late in the night when the crowd, Jeremiah the emigrant; 2d, Robert; 3d, Robert;4th, John ; 5th, Henry B. Jadwin, father ofC. C. Jadwin. The first four generations wereplanters ; and Henry B. was the first that chosea different occupation. He left his native Stateand located in Canaan, Wayne County, Pa., inthe year 1830. In 1832 he married Alice , of that place, a daughter of Ezraand Hannah Plumb, from Litchfield County,Conn. Mr. Jadwin moved to Carbondale. estimated to be the largest ever assembled inthe borough, was wholly dispersed. Cornelius C. Jadwix is a descendant ofJeremiah Jadwin, who came to America aboutthe year 1683 and located on the peninsulaformed by the Chesapeake and Delaware was accompanied to the colonies byhis brothers Joseph and John. Joseph settledin New York, and John settled in line of descent from Jeremiah Jadwin tothe subject of this sketch is as follows : 1st, where he passed the remainder of his life, dyingin 1876, at the age of seventy-three. Of hiseight children, six are now living,—Orlando H.,the oldest son, is a wholesale druggist in NewYork City ; Cornelius C. is a druggist at Hones-dale, Pa. ; Henry B., Charles P., John S. andThomas S. are druggists living in LackawannaCounty, Pa. Cornelius C. Jadwin was born at Carbondale,Luzerne (now Lackawanna) County, Pa., March27,1835. He attended the public schools of 438 WAYNE, PIKE A
