(Gilbert)Trego, both of whom were natives of theKeystone state and were members of the So-ciety of Friends, in which faith our subjectwas reared. The father was a farmer byoccupation and during the greater part ofhis life carried on agricultural pursuits. In1856 he went to Galesburg in order to pro-vide his children with better educational ad-vantages and was there engaged in conduct-ing a grocery store. At the time of the Civilwar he was engaged in purchasing horsesfor the post at Gallatin, Tennessee. He re-sided in Orion, Henry county, Illinois, forseveral years after the close of the war andthe last ten years of his life were spent inCass county, Iowa, where both he and hiswife died. This worthy couple were theparents of nine children: Elizabeth, nowdeceased; A. H., of this review; Jacob R.,who is living in Cass county, Iowa; HelenR., the wife
