Seismology research. Seismographs installed some 450 metres below ground at a research location in France. The equipment location, shielded within a mountain, allows high-precision readings to be obtained. This equipment is being used to model seismic waves that occur under the Mediterranean Sea. Photographed at the Low Noise Underground Laboratory (LSBB), inside a mountain above the village of Rustrel, in south-eastern France.
