The melons town tliem an- so fine in quality as to outsell all others, and the demand for such melons lias been far beyond the supply. There seems to be a difference of opinion as to whether it is the climate of that western point or the superiority of the strain of seed which makes the quality of the melons grown there so much better than the ordinary. It is quite likely that both conditions have something to do With it—at any rate we have seed of the true strain and offer it here. Pkt. 5c, oz. lOc, #lb. *5c, lb. $ Thanksgiving Pumpkin. Our illustration shows the distinct shape and t he thickness of flesh peculiar to this new Pump- kin. We have had specimens to weigh Hfty-flve pounds and only have one and three-fourths ounces of seed in them; the flesh being In some places six Inches thick The average size is about the same as that of the large Cheese Pumpkin, making it just right size for retailing, but the flesh Is fully twice as thick. On account of this extra thickness of flesh, the yield in pounds is double that of other kinds, as the fruit is produced in as great abundance. If not more. The flesh is orange in color, of fine grain, sweet, and has the delicious pumpkin flavor essential tot lie making of a first-class pumpkin pie. The name "Thanksgiving" was suggested by the almost universal custom of having pumpkin pie at the Thanksgiving dinner.
