Klass UFO hoax demonstration. US ufologist Philip Julian Klass (1919-2005) debunking the existence of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) by demonstrating UFO photograph-faking techniques. Klass stated that most UFO sightings were honest mistakes by people who saw a natural phenomenon they couldn't explain, but that a minority of sightings were deliberate hoaxes. Some ufologists were critical of the approach taken by Klass, but others supported him. The weekly magazine 'Aviation Week', where he worked for over 30 years, has presented since 1995 the Philip J. Klass Award for Lifetime Achievement named in his honour. Photographed in 1967.
