Vase, 1830–70, Made in Sandwich, Massachusetts, United States, American, Pressed glass, H. 11 7/8 in. ( cm), Glass, This vase was pressed in two pieces, and a flat disk was used to join the bowl to the stem. This technique is believed to have been largely confined to New England glasshouses. By 1875, a Pittsburgh firm, Atterbury and Company, had developed a process for pressing such forms in a single mold
