Accidents chargeable togas tubing had happened from time to time in years past withoutcausing any unusual official alarm, but this particular occurrenceand the obvious danger of such flimsily constructed gas tubing soappealed to the county prosecutor who then held office that hedemanded some immediate action by the city of Newark to protectthe public against this cheap, dangerous kind of tubing, with theresult that a municipal ordinance prohibiting the sale and useof other than approved tubular connections for illuminating-gasfixtures and appliances became effective in this city March 13,1917.
