For an early supply start seed of an early variety indoors in flats during February. Cover with sand and keep moderately moist, because celery seed is rather slow to germinate. For a later supply start with a winter variety, sowing any time between the middle of March and April 1st. Celery requires a moderately rich, well-prepared soil to grow to perfection. Proper blanching before use is very important. Maturity dates for Celery give days from setting of plants. Allow 55 days for plant production. 116 Golden Self-Blanching. 115 days. A favorite sort of compact growth suited particularly to home gar- den culture because it blanches readily. Medium- sized stocky plants with thick, solid, crisp stalks of distinct flavor.
