The Long House, Winchester, United Kingdom. Architect: Dan Brill Architects, 2012. Main living space.

Exploiting an unusually long suburban site, the form of this project is driven by an ambitions accommodation schedule and a planning requirement to minimise the visual prominence of the development. The existing two-storey house has been retained but internally gutted, providing a spacious open-plan living area within a double-height volume. Bedrooms and bathrooms are contained within a new single-storey wing that skewers the existing house and opens onto a terrace at the rear.
