I almost pulled out this plant when it appeared, looking like a scruffy weed, in our garden in Radley Village in Oxfordshire. It's just as well I didn't, because a few weeks later, it turned into this beauty - a wild Poppy. There's a moral in that, A poppy is a flowering plant in the subfamily Papaveroideae of the family Papaveraceae. They are herbaceous plants, often grown for their colourful flowers. This vivid red is the usual colour of the common Poppy
