CTB-1 is a large supernova remnant located in Cassiopeia constellation. It is also catalogued as Abell 85 and LBN576. It was originally believed by George Abell a planetary nebula, it soon became evident that it was actually a supernova remnant. It was also recognized as a radio source and acquired the alternative designation CTB 1. This object is most challenging for astrophotographers. This image was created from photographic material taken with the Oschin Telescope at Mount Palomar Observatory, forming part of the Digitized Sky Survey 2.
