Food on the International Space Station. Cosmonaut Fyodor N. Yurchikhin, Expedition 15 commander representing Russia's Federal Space Agency, adding water to garlic inside a gauze-filled metal container. The food is dehydrated to decrease its mass and volume for flight, and to keep it fresh. The International Space Station (ISS) is a joint effort by several national space agencies, including NASA. It orbits Earth at an altitude of around 350 kilometres. Photographed in the service module Zvezda aboard the ISS, on 27th May 2007.
