A little to the west of the road leading from West Leb-anon village to Acton, and one and one-half mile northward NEWELL GOODWIN, second son of Thomah and (Gliddon) .Goodwin, win- born inthe town of Lebanon Dec. 18,1834. His grandfather, Reuben Good-win, was the original proprietorof the Ijoraestead which has beenoccu])ied for three generations bythe Goodwin family. He settledtliere prior to the war for inde-pendence, ill wliich he was a sol-dier. He died Feb. 14, 1827,a^ed sixty-three, and was suc-ceeded by iiis son, Thomas, wliowas also a farmer during his life;was firet a Democrat and after-. Newell Goodwin wards a IJei>;M), and diedMay 9, 1S5C, agcwn: was justice of thepp^u-e for seven years, and is nowa constable. He and his wife arepKinbersof the Free Will BaptistChurch, and he has been clerk oftiie church for some ten years.
