American and Italian troops guard the gate of the palace in Fiume, Hungary. On October 29, 1918, representatives from the newly formed Jugoslav nation arrived in the city and ordered Hungarian guards to leave. On November 11, a platoon from Company G, 2nd Battalion, 332 Infantry, along with Italian troops, entered the city and occupied it on behalf of the Allies.
