A tribute to Jack Brickhouse a famous Chicago sports announcer and reporter on Michigan avenue downtown Chicago, Illinois, USA usa united states of america bronze statue The Monument to Jack Brickhouse, created by Jerry McKenna and sponsored by the American Brain Tumor Association, was dedicated on North Michigan Avenue just south of the Tribune Tower in 2000. Etched on the bottom, in brass, is Brickhouse’s catch phrase: “Hey-Hey” John Beasley "Jack" Brickhouse (1916–1998), an American broadcasting legend and a Chicago institution, received the Ford C. Frick Award and was inducted into the Media Wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983. He is known primarily for his enthusiastic play-by-play coverage of Chicago Cubs games on WGN-TV from 1948 to 1981, but also called Chicago White Sox games prior to that team leaving WGN in 1968.
