A re-excavated Easy Company foxhole (of "Band of Brothers" fame) in the forest near Foy in Belgium. IMPT SEE NOTES

This foxhole is located in a small forest just outside the village on Foy in Belgium. It was the location where Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division were based during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944. The exploits of Easy Company were made famous by the television series "Band of Brothers" (based on the Stephen Ambrose book of the same name) first broadcast in 2001 which followed Easy Company from basic training through D-Day in Normandy to Austria in 1945. IMPT NOTE THIS ONE LOOKS LIKE A RE-EXCAVATED FOXHOLE Detailed research of documentaries (inc the DVD extras on the series); literature and online sources indicated that this is the exact area where Easy Company were based Research also made it clear that World War Two re-enactors use the area to 'experience' the Foy forest at night and it was clear that many of the foxholes had been re-excavated since 1944. Therefore whilst this is the exact area where Easy Company were located and many foxholes, shallow and deep litter the area, it is highly likely the foxhole shown has been re-excavated since 1944. See CR6MTD, CR6N0R and CR6MWJ which appear to have been re-excavated while CR6MR2 and CRDD1T which appear to be original.
