Land Rover Abandoned iconic
Land Rover 88" series III built from 1971 to 1985. The original Land Rover Series was launched in 1948 and rebranded the Defender in 1990. In October 2013 Land Rover announced that production would end in December 2015 after a continuous run of 67 years with the last model rolling off the production line in January 2016. Although the Defender had an unrivaled reputation as the ultimate go anywhere vehicle the cars outdated design meant it could not conform to increasingly rigorous modern safety and emissions standards. The manufacturer estimates that 66% of all those ever built are still on the road.
