The Port of Alexandria is located on the northern, Mediterranean coast of Egypt, to the West of the Nile Delta. It is one of the oldest ports in the world, with its earliest facilities built as long ago as 1900 BCE. The modern port is now the largest in Egypt, and one of the largest in the Middle East. Here we see one of the breakwaters enclosing the East Harbour. It ends at Citadel of Qaitbay, but I suspect these suspicious-looking replica towers are just cheap tourist why bother, I wonder, when the real thing is only a few hundred metres away? The odd, interlocking, tetrahedral concrete blocks that for the breakwater are called tetrapods, incidentally - no surprise, there. This whole area is popular for small pleasure boats and for just mooching around.
