Wernher von Braun (1912-1977. Portrait of the German-American rocket scientist and aerospace engineer Wernher von Braun examining the colour television camera that will be attached to the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) for NASA's Apollo 15 lunar landing mission. Von Braun developed the V-2 rocket during World War II but later played a central role in developing the rockets used in NASA's Apollo missions to the Moon. At the time of this photograph he was NASA's Deputy Associate Director. Photographed in June 1971.
