A late 18th century illustration of Rosa Indica, one of the ancestors of modern roses and distinguished by often being resistant to pests and diseases. They have a single flower of five petals but some double forms occur as sports. Rosa indica is a species rose native to southern China, Northern Indo-China and Taiwan. It is a medium sized rose with red semi-double to double flowers. No fragrance.
