The area of Takachico gorge in the volcanic mountain region of the Gokase-gawa river gorge, has shrines and caves such as the Takachiho-jinja Shrine, Kunimi-ga-oka Hill, and Amano-iwato-jinja Shrines. There are often small statues in the cave entrances, and cairns or pillars of flat stones created by visitors.
