In this latitude, it is useless to plant in the open ground until nearly the first of June. Make rich hills of well- rotted manure, two feet in diameter, and plant a dozen or more seeds, cover- ing half an inch deep. When all danger from insects is over, pull all but three or four of the strongest plants. The middle of June is early enough to plant for pickling. Make the hills about 6 feet apart- If by mail in quantities of 1-2 lb. and upwards, add at the rate of 8c per lb. for Improved Early White Spine. A favorite market variety ; productive.
