During the late summer and early fall months, thetemperature of the water is delightful for bathing,averaging in the shallow bay off Lake Dells, by ac-tual test and record, 68° to 72°, while the descentof the shore is so gradual, that at two thousand feetout, the sounding showed but eleven feet of water,the whole distance being a gradually sloping sandybottom.
