Bronze jue with traces of gold sheet affixed by red lacquer, Erlitou period, Xia-early Shang dynasty, China, c1600 BC. An Erlitou bronze jue, flat bottomed as is typical of this period with a long spout, stubby finials and plain handle. The body is decorated with three raised concave bands embellished with gold sheet with cross hatching affixed to the bronze body by red lacquer.
