Interior of the Reading Room at the British Museum in London

Completed in 1857, the reading room used to be a part of the British Library and was inaccesable to the general public until 2000. Following restoration the building now houses the Paul Hamlyn library. Apart from some 25000 books the library contains touchscreens which provide information on some 5000 of the Museum's artifacts. Famous users of the Reading Room include Karl Marx, Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw.
