I have an uncanny ability to find myself at Slater's Bridge when dark, omminous clouds are rolling in! Today was no exception! Little Langdale looks best with a brooding sky though! Slater's Bridge itself is wonderful - and one of my favourite of the ancient packhorse bridges that are littered around the Lakes. It is, as far as I am aware, unique in that one half is an older form "clapper" bridge with the arch following after. The whole structure is estimated to be from the 16th Century and was built to connect the village with the slate mines on the other side of the valley.
