Old buildings and traditional commercial signs alongside modern architecture in historic Lombard Street. The City of London, England, United Kingdom.

Old and new architecture side by side in the City of present day signs in Lombard street were erected for the coronation of Edward VII in 1902. They reproduce the ancient emblems of mediaeval merchants and traders. 20 Fenchurch Street, nicknamed the Walkie Talkie is one of the most recent additions to the London skyline. While it was still under construction reflected sunlight magnified by the curving mirrored windows melted and damaged cars in the streets below. In 2015 it was the winner of the Carbuncle Cup, awarded by Building Design Magazine, and named the worst new building of the year, in the UK.
