At the sametime, I think the details of the building of my aviarymay be useful to those who think of erecting similarstructures. In my garden there is a grass-run for poultry,enclosed with wire netting, and measuring about north to south and about 30 ft. from east to run, and in fact the whole garden, lies on agentle slope towards the south, and is well protectedon the north and east by walls. There are a fewstandard fruit trees in this run, and in the middle wasan old wooden fowl house, of flimsy construction, andthis was used as the nucleus of the aviary.
