The application ofcold produces pain, indicating inflammation; percussion is itive. The roentgenogram may -how pulp nodules. The responseto the electric current is usually the same as that observed in suppu-rative pulpitis, namely, a greater amount of current is necessarythan normally. Chronic ulcerative pulpitis is a comparativelyrare disease which at time-, offers great difficulties in its recognition;usually it i-> only observed in the neglected teeth of Chronic ulcerative pulpitis. Differential Diagnosis. An open pulp chamber and comparativefreedom from pain are the principal pathognomonic signs of chroniculcerative pulpitis and differentiate this disease from other types. Prognosis. A chronically inflamed pulp with an ulceratingsurface does not offer favorable chances for its preservation; theremoval of the diseased pulp and subsequent treatment of the r<»<»t canal restores the tooth to normal function. Treatment. (Tronic ulcerative pulpitis calls for the same routineprocedures as previously described under Acute SuppurativePulpitis. CHAPTER HYPERPLASTIC PULPITIS.
