The com- munication between Canada and the Maritime Provinces was so imperfect that but little was known of the Provinces outsiile of their own boundaries. In 1X64 the Government of Nova Scotia, desiairing of seeinjj the Union of all the British North Auic rican Provinces effecteil at an early date, arranf;ed with the Governments of New Hrunswick and Prince Edward Island to pass the following Resolution : " Resolved, That a humble address be pre- sented to His the Administrator of the Government, requesting him to appoint delegates (not to Hvc) to Confer with delegates who be appointed by the Govern- ments of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, for the purpose of considering the subject of the Union of
