A wheellock rifle, Michael Maucher, Schwäbisch-Gmünd, dated 1680 Octagonal, seven-groove rifled barrel (non-corresponding, subsequently reworked) in 15 mm calibre with dovetailed brass front sight and iron rear sight. Chiselled wheellock with smooth lock plate and openwork wheel cover. Chiselled double set trigger with iron trigger guard. Carved wooden full stock, the side opposite the lock, the butt and the patch-box decorated with fine hunting and game scenes as well as sculptural tendrils.
