PLAIN PLATFORM PIPES The platform pipe shown as Fig. 51 was foundalong with the above-described image pipes, inburial number 6 of mound number 18. It is made ofOhio pipestone, of a dark gray color, the platform beingwell curved, rectangular, with slightly rounded corners,and 4 inches in length. The top of the platform isslightly concave, while the bottom is decidedly bowl is greatly enlarged at the platform, graduallylessens toward the center, and then expands into a rimat the top, where it is decorated by 6 deep notches. Another plain platform pipe, from the same graveas the above, is shown in Fig. 52. This specimen, likethe otter pipe, is made from a conglomerate. Its plat-form is but 3 inches in length, and only slightly curved.
