Traditional matchmaking meeting in Tokyo, Japan, where people search for suitable marriage partners.


100 men and 100 women, accompanied by one parent each, take part in the 100th 'Nationwide Arranged Marriage Exchange Association' "omiai"- arranged meetings event, in the hope of finding a suitable partner to marry, at the Meiji Kinen Kaikan hall, in Tokyo, Japan, Sunday 1st August 2010. To participate in the event costs ¥25,000, and each participant is sent a list of other attendees which lists their age, sex, blood type, previous marital status if applicable, academic career, whether they smoke or drink alcohol or not, hobbies etc. The men and their parent then spend 1minute at each table, talking to the woman opposite with her parent, until they have met all the women present in the room. If man and woman decide that they are interested the parent of those people then exchange 'Shinjousho' - a CV of personal interests and information.
