Tampon for Cervicitis The tampon above referred to is illustratedbelow. Figure No. 1 shows a piece of braidedsilk about 6 inches long. This is tied intoa knot, as shown in No. 2. Then a piece of. cotton is put in the hand, the knot is placedin this cotton, and a wooden applicator wftin antiseptic solution is twisted on, as shownin No. 3 and No. 4. No. 5 shows a specialtube through which the wooden appUcatorshown in No. 4 is passed. This tampon, whenarranged as in No. 5, is placed into the cervixuteri, after first being wet with carbenzol orsome other suitable oily antiseptic holding the tube and pulling out theapplicator with the fingers, as shown in No. 5,the tampon will remain in the cervix for sev-eral hours before uterine contractions ex-pel it.
