In Pierre duVals map of 1655-65, it figures as a wideningof the Paraguay River near the boundary ofPeru; and it was similarly represented by Guil-laume Sanson in 1679. It is called Lago de losXarayes in M. Coronellis map. dated de ITsle in 1700 set it down, andhe also named it Lago de los Xarayes; but in amap by the same hand, dated 1703. the lake hasdwindled to a laguna.
