He was a sincere friend, a kind and hospitableneighbour, and condescending, affable, and bomitiful to thepoor; a most cheerful companion, and full of anecdote—an in-dulgent and generous master—an active and efficient magistrate;and, lastly, in the field, he was equalled by few, and surpassedby none.
