Portrait of Sjah Jahan. This rare, exotic portrait depicts the Indian Mughal emperor Sjah Jahan (1628–1658). It was probably made by an Italian sculptor sojourning in India. The Mughal emperor, who had many western artists in his employ, is here shown as he regularly presented himself to his subjects from behind his palace window.
