Anniston Army Depot machinist, Phillip Stevens, is using a Computer Numerical Control machine to grind a Detroit Diesel engine crankshaft. Previously, crankshafts were ground using a manual grinder which would take up to three hours to complete the task. Two new Junker 6L CNC crankshaft grinders were added to the Reciprocating Drive Train Division that can grind a crankshaft in 15 minutes or less.
