A late Roman iron folding chair with gold-damascening for high officials or military officers, 4th - 5th century Two wrought iron frames of ca. 8 mm width, connected in the middle by a sturdy rivet with a quadrangular stud. This joint functions again due to restoration. Width of frame each ca. 3 cm. Waisted sides and top, after 15 cm at the ends a narrow, only 2 cm wide central section. The top and side surfaces richly decorated with a geometrical pattern of metal wire inlays, silver at the top, bronze at the sides.
