Cosmic dust surrounding stars. Computer illustration of a disk of dusty material left over from star formation surrounding two young stars (bright, centre). This disk is misaligned from the central star pair due to the disrupting gravitational presence of a third star orbiting at the periphery of the system. It is thought that this disk will spawn planets and other celestial bodies that make up a solar system.
