Judging Herdwick sheep, Walna Scar Shepherds Meet, Broughton Mills, Cumbria, November 2018. A traditional annual Lake District sheep show.


Walna Scar is a traditional Lake District Shepherds Meet. It began in the early 1900s as a way of farmers returning stray sheep and it became a show to judge best sheep. It now meets every November. originally it met twice a year. Herdwick and Swaledale sheep breeds are now included. The 2018 show was a very wet day, hence farmers are wearing rain-wear.
