Carnations here are planted 8x8 inches and pickings will commence about the middle of September. Pink Delight is heavily grown, some 40,000 being planted. Laddie is a great favorite and Morning Glow occupies much more space than it did a year ago. Hope Henshaw and Lassie are each being giffen a good trial. In whites. White Delight and Matchless are grown. Strange to sa^y, Matchless, which us- ually makes such a large plant in the field, is here smaller than most of the other varieties. Aviator is the favorite scarlet, filling one large house. It is quite free and was juflt coming into crop. After pro- ducing ,the holiday crop, these will be pulled out to make room for young stock. Smaller lots of Belle Washburn and Herald are grown. Benora and Coolidge are grown for variegated and Ward is the standard rose pink. For a dark pink. Rosette has entirely displaced Rosalia. Maine Sunshine is being grown as a yellow. One long benah is entirely devoted to seedlings. It seems somewhat strange not to have a solitary plant but carnations at.
