Drug delivery liposome, coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM). Some drugs need to be transported to a specific part of the body before they can be allowed to take effect. This is done using an artificial liposome, a microscopic bubble made of a phospholipid bilayer membrane, that carries drug molecules to be released at a target site. This is a dodecyl phosphate and cholesterol liposome.
