Portishead, North Somerset, UK, Monday 10th August 2015. A local marine lake, popular for boating on by locals and day trippers, is fenced off to the public, by the local council, after high concentrations of toxic blue-green algae are found in the water. The toxin can prove fatal to pets drinking the water. A particular problem here as it's a popular area for dog walkers. The risk to humans from the toxin comes mainly from external exposure leading to skin rashes, lesions and blisters. Credit: Stephen Hyde/Alamy Live News
