A Superb New GLADIOLUS "WHITE ; This beautiful pure white sort we had the pleasure of seeing in the grounds of the introducer the past summer, whose descrip- tion follows: A really pure white Gladiolus, gained by crossing the best so- called white varieties. Having compared "White Lady" with all the newest white varieties of German, English, American and French origin, we are positive that this novelty is the very best white known. The flowers are large, of finest substance and of the purest white imaginable, the lower petals are slightly tinged with pale yellow; this pale yellow is so delicate and so clear that it does not impair the white of the flower in the least, on the contrary it en- hances upon the white. The buds are light yellow before opening. The plants are of a remarkably strong growth and will generally produce several flower spikes. Height 2i to 3 feet when in full bloom. Price: Strong bulbs, $ each; three bulbs for $ The most distinct and sensational novelties of the season. These are an entirely new race of Cannas and altogether distinct from anything introduced heretofore, they have been very appropriately called " Orchid-Flowered Cannas.'' Both varieties have flowers of immense size, frequently measuring six inches across; the colors are distinct and pleasing and the flowers are produced in the greatest pro- fusion. They have been described by the introducers as growing nine feet high, but in our own grounds, under liberal cultivation, they have attained a height of six feet, but are most vigorous and free in habit. Italia is of a bright orange scarlet with a very broad golden yellow border; the flowers, which are produced on mas- sive stems about sixteen inches long, are set well above the foliage; the foliage is large and heavy, similar to that of the Musa Ensete.
